type of External Wall Insulation

What is the best External Wall Insulation?

External wall insulation is the most popular, easiest and quicker way to insulate your home. It’s perfect for solid wall buildings. It has a lot of benefits. What is the best External Wall Insulation?

1. Expanded Polystyrene insulation (EPS) and Graphite

One of the most use and most cost effective solutions. Good insulation perfomance and easy to work with.

Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is a lightweight cellular plastic material. It consists of small hollow spherical balls. They expand through a molding process.

2. Rockwool mineral wool

Mineral wool is manufactured from volcanic rock, mainly basalt. The mineral wool is compressed much more. Accordingly, it is made into a rigid board.

Consequently, it has a good fire resistance rating. And, of course, a good sound insulation. However, there is a downside. It is more difficult to work with, so installation costs are usually higher.

3. Kingspan kooltherm

It’s a rigid pink phenolic board. It is premium performance. Equally important, it is light and easy for installers to work with. Unfortunately, there is a side-effect. It is more expensive.

4. Pavatex Diffutherm (Woodfibre insulation board for thermal insulation composite systems)

Wood fibre boards are a renewable source of insulation. The wood locks in carbon during growth. Furthermore, it has a a combined structure and it is composed of multiple board layers with different bulk densities.

That type is relatively free from polluting factors. Also, it is an optimised, render-compatible insulation.
